Poised atop a bluff along the Lake Michigan shore, sits quaint St. Joseph, one of Michigan's featured Beachtowns. Brick streets welcome visitors downtown to relax as they browse through unique shops and enjoy dining spots in this resort town. Shops display art, antiques, collectibles and lighthouse memorabilia in addition to clothing and giftware. The Krasl Art Center, featuring a Chihuly glass sculpture, hosts traveling exhibits, but may be best known for its Art Fair the second weekend of July.
Below the bluff, Silver Beach stretches its sugar-sand beach 1600 feet along the lake and claims title as one of the best US beaches, as reported in Parents magazine. In July, the Venetian Festival sets up volleyball and competitions, a carnival and musical entertainment near the shore. In summer, free activities abound in town. Brownbag lunch concerts in July and August, horse-drawn rides can also be enjoyed surrounding the lunch hour. Saturday mornings from June through September, a Farmers’ Market showcases the diverse fruits and vegetables this region (known as the Fruit Belt) is famous for. Sundays see Antiques on the Bluff from May until October and a motorized trolley runs the standard summer season, encircling the shopping district. Just four miles north of I-94, St. Joseph can be easily reached by car anytime of year. We welcome you.
